The New EPA RRP Lead Rules!

Program Description:  Our April meeting happens to fall on Earth Day and also the start date for the new EPA Renovate, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Lead Rules which all remodeling and repair work done for compensation to housing built prior 1978, must be completed in compliance with.   Our Guest speaker, Shawn McCadden CR, CLC, CAPS and EPA RRP Certified Renovator is also an educator, speaker and consultant to the renovation and construction industries.   For home inspectors, his presentation will be beneficial in updating you (and as a result, your customers) on the latest rules regarding this important issue often of concern to home buying families with small children.  The new EPA rules will be a "game changer" for most contractors that perform work that disturbs paint.  Shawn will cover the new rules, who they will effect and how.   The types of work and buildings that fall under the rules will be highlighted.   He will also point out the types of work and work practices that are considered exceptions to the new rules.   Discussion will be offered about lead paint certification and training requirements for contractors and where to obtain such training.  Shawn is no stranger to ASHI-NE as he has presented in the past on topics related to home renovation and remodeling.

(The new rules go into effect on April 22, 2010)
